happy sweet 16 (months), mon cherie!

mon cherie is 16 months old today!
she looks a little more grown up with the hairband... and her fringe is growing a little too long - but is just nice at the moment (since she got very high forehead, only trim once every 3months! hee hee)

vital stats update:
wt - 9kg
ht - 81cm

here are some of her milestones:

* new tastes
a) prata with egg
b) fried carrot cake with egg
c) kway tiaw soup
d) rosti
e) spaghetti bolognese with white button mushroom
f) fried minced meat/prawn with egg
g) egg tarts, chicken & mushroom pie
h) watercress soup
(obviously a long list of not good choices to begin with but we do try to open up her taste buds with outside food)

* mobility
a) able to walk more steadily and with pretty good balance.
b) learning to climb UP the sofa with one leg (lucky she can't carry her own wt just yet, else will be more disasters of climbing UP and falling off the sofa!)
c) able to get down from her ikea mammut stool by herself (previously was afraid she'd fall so kept asking to be carried down)
d) can turn clock-wise and anti clock-wise

* other physical adeptability - via imitation of actions or instructions:
a) more confidence in her walking and attempt to 'brisk' walk a few times
b) left/right hand coordination improved and can take heavier objects with both/either hands
c) shake, bend and turn her body when she hears her favourite songs/commercials on tv.
d) finally able to drink from a straw but need more coaxing.
e) will bring food container to either parents; asking to be fed contents of food, usually biscuits.
f) will place each item (eg. hp pouch, square box, remote control, etc) as hp and put them on her shoulder while tilting her head and 'talk'
g) will use one hand to either pull or push herself forward/backward while seated on her little rider.
h) bring along her musical keyboard and keep pressing on the music button - her 1st 'walkman' perhaps?!
i) will pull her top/bottom whenever we tell her its 'bath time' - indicating she wants to undress/change.

* vocal development:
a) louder and longer gibberish talks with more expressions.
b) able to say 'woowoowoo' when she sees pictures or actual dogs/puppies
c) still learning to say 'meow' but will point and scream 'yeeee' when she sees cats!

* emotional/character building:
a) more assertive in her wants/needs with more fussing/crying
b) tantrums now comes with physical violence of 'beating', scratching or pinching of the person carrying her - especially when she gets very upset that her needs/wants are not met.
c) less stranger anxiety - chooses to ignore the 'stranger' completely instead.
d) easier to warm up to family members whom she remembers especially when we visit them once a week (my in-laws)

e) will laugh when she sees her own photos, images of animals and sometimes laugh along when parents are laughing at jokes on tv, etc. (i guess she's learning to blend in even if she still do not 'catch' the joke)

as we move on to another new month of growth and learning, we hope that we have prepared mon cherie enough for the new arrival of baby G next month. there will be more adjustments along the way but both mommy and daddy will work doubly hard to ensure mon cherie goes through the new changes smoothly. (Dear God, give us strength, patience and perseverance and abundance love in getting through this new phase!)
