Little Missy is 6! Celebration

After months of deliberations and requests; I've decided to just host Little Missy's 6th birthday celebration in the childcare - instead of at home with some of her invited little guests.

It all began with her recent love of My Little Pony (MLP) and thereafter, it's all about MLP theme party.  Being not a creative mom; I searched for ideas online (where else!) and was blown away by the many, MANY resources available - some were simple but heart-warming and some were just very commercialized - all about spending moolah to get the best of everything.

I didn't do much planning; so at the very last minute, I decided to just DIY almost all of it - and not being too ambitious, I will just do my best and within my own limited resources; mostly is time related (coz i'm the procrastinator in all things...)

So what I did was:
1. DIY bunting - MLP themed
2. DIY cupcake topper and main cake topper - all MLP themed
3. Baked 2-layer (think PINK) cake with cream cheese frosting and flower marshmallow decorations
4. DIY Colored marshmallow pops with colored sugar (also DIY).
5. Goodie bag - got these settled one week before. Just got all the kids an easy-link card holder; practical stuff! :)

Items 1 and 2 I did them a day before and items 3 and 4, on the actual day... it was madness of rushing one batch after another coz 1st batch of cuppies were all spoilt!

So here's the celebration at childcare... let the pictures say it all.

The happy girl - i'm glad that she really liked it.

The entire childcare and teachers singing for her... look at her happy expression :D

All her BFFs...

2 more boys not in the picture though.

I looked terribly tired (and haggard! *dang*) but satisfied with the outcome... okie, not so pleased with the melting cream cheese frosting though.  ha!

Daddy helping out to cut the cake ... he's not pleased coz the cream cheese was too soft and it was hard to make all the slices look nice! argh... i know!  But did you noticed the 2 layer of Pink on the plate? :) that; I like!

Goodie bag distribution time...

And this was something extra for the girls - and it arrived in Spore just one day before her birthday, thank goodness!  It's the IN thing among all her BFFs right now... and I know a lot of other 6 year olds this year too! :)

With Xin En - her BBFF and 'my neighbour sister' as she calls her.

With Joeelle, who loves PowerPuff Girls more though and is very good at drawing those big-eyed power girls too :D

With E En - another ballet enthusiast but at different dance schools

With Bo Han - one of the tallest girl in her cohort and she, being the most petite makes a stark different in height! :D

With Ser Yin -Another tall gal and the only specky one who used to be so shy. Now she's more open up and is a good friend of Glenda, and also their so called 'neighbour sister'.

Last but not least - with Glenda, who was Little Missy's original BBFF before Xin En joined the childcare in 2011.  Cheerful gal and always on the look out for Little Missy in all areas, just like a big sister!

After the hectic afternoon; we rested for a little while and then, it is time for family gathering at Swensen. Missing in this picture is 二婶 who is still hard at work.

That marks the end of the birthday celebration.

Next up, it will be the new tween journey and more growing up in mind and body... Let's embrace this beginning with open hearts, minds and hands as we move forward together with you - every step of the way.

Jia you, my darling.... and a Happy & Blessed 6th birthday!

Lots of Love and Hugs and Kisses.
