our little guy's 16 months old on Singapore's 45th Birthday!
oh boy, he is indeed a bundle of energy bursting everywhere both physically and vocally.
mobility/physical adeptability
- climbing up and down on our sofas, bed, dinning chairs, coffee table and the little concealed piping ledge near the window without fear
- walking up the stairs with one hand assisting him and both hands when going down
- running about (not brisk walking like his sister) on open field/area
- walks backwards or sideways during his tantrum throwing times
- easily squat down and stand up, climb over the rocking fish and out without help
- will dance a little when he hears his favourite music being played and clap his hands when prompted
- shaking his head is a norm... sometimes too much! and can nod "yes" and "no"
- still learning to drink from a straw and use a tiny spoon to self-feed
- pincer grip has improved and he loves to pick up tiny objects on the floor, very tiny ones!
- able to identify body parts such as eyes, ears, nose, mouth, arms, legs and belly-button
- still balancing his walk though, sometimes will still trip over
- will pat his chest when he coughs and tap on the walls/floor when he sees lizard/ants, etcvocal development
- able to make several sounds/words and pointing to said objects, eg bus, ball, bear, bird, car, nen nen (milk), shoes, keys, door, book
- making out words like 'you see', 'lizard', 'meow', 'wooo', 'booh' (no more in hokkien), 'chay chay' (sister)
- making other sounds to interact with us and getting frustrated with we don't understand
- loves to sing along to the YOG theme song by just singing 'ahhhh'
emotional/character building
- showing assertiveness in making known his needs and wants
- tantrums galore both vocally and physically - especially when fighting for attention with his sister by pushing, pulling of hair/clothes, screaming and even kicking his way!
- loves to explore and test our limits by continuously 'pushing' us away from tasks at hand and to do what he wants
- stranger anxiety is less apparent when around others but will turn/run to us when being approached
he's still drooling and having a little tough time eating/sleeping due to his molars/teething.
and he's starting to appreciate more solid food like soft rice, pasta and bits of chicken meat.
next up will be finding ways to spend his energy and introduce a variety of food to boost his appetite!
