mon cherie is 21 months old today.
vital stats
wt: 10.5kg (finally hitting double digit on the scale! yipee!)
ht: yet to be measured!
physical/cognitive
* jump - still in progress
* run - more like brisk walking
* self-feeding solids and soup using her spoon and using a fork for her cut-fruit servings.
* learning to drink from cup, still need others to support the cup though
* enjoyings 'reading' story books/flashcards with help from mommy/daddy
* will help to bring her feeding bowl/spoon to mommy once she is done with her meals
* helping mommy with simple household chores such as discarding items (baby diapers, used tissues, waste paper) into dustbins, putting her used clothings into laundry basket, wipe clean table surface with cloth, folding laundry (usually is messing up folded laundry!)
* entertains her little brother with her songs/dance/chitchat or just patting him when she sees him fussing.
* enjoys playing 'make believe' games like cooking/drinking/eating with mommy and will even feed mommy her 'make believe' food and drink.
vocal
* understands and learning to verbalize her needs/wants in 2 word sentences.
* loves to imitate shrieks/screams whenever she hears them on tv
* able to hum to the tune of "twinkle twinkle little stars" and say out the last word of each sentence. eg. (s)tar, are, high, (s)kai [sky]. She is still unable to pronounce 'S' correctly.
* will try to repeat new word when she is in good mood.
* will hum nursery songs to self-entertain while enroute to childcare (on the bus)
emotional
* getting better at expressing herself after she manages to calm down after the initial bouts of whinings/fussings
* indirectly showing her jealousy towards lil brother by being more demanding of daddy/mommy's attention.
* no longer fuss/cry when being sent to the childcare in the morning, more willing to bid parents farewell and either being carried or walk by herself into her classroom
* afraid to sleep in the dark, instead prefers the nightlight to be turned brighter!
social
* slightly more open to accepting others - will not shy/turn away when other adults are talking to her but will not allow them to carry her
* willing to hi-5, wave "bye-bye", give flying kisses and even say "nite nite" when being prompted
* will share toys with her mates at childcare but most of the times, prefers to stick to her favourite teacher
mommy understands that with the addition of gaby in the family, mon cherie feels the need to 'fight' for mommy's attention and has resulted in 'babying' herself with constant whines and cries for mommy's FULL attention, even to the stage of refusing daddy.
hopefully this phase will gradually (but surely) pass with mommy's constant reassurance and giving her loads of love!
