My baptism - a life long journey

today is my special day... i will be receiving the sacrament of baptism at Church of the Risen Christ in Toa Payoh. This is the church mommy used to attend when she was living in Toa Payoh a long long time ago.

oh what a rush... to the church, to the church... we were almost late! and chloe's godparents were frantically sms-ing mommy to hurry up! :D we finally reached the church just in the nick of time (since we practically 'jogged' our way there from a block away!) and thankfully, still manages to catch our breath and chat with Father Loiseau.

there were about 10 babies (if not mistaken) being baptised with chloe today hence it was a pretty long sacramental service. it started with singing of hymns, prayers and gospel readings; followed by the baptismal ceremony where the priest went around placing the sign of the cross on the foreheads and the anointing of oil on the chests of all babies. this were done pretty fast actually... despite his age, Father Loiseau manages to whiz pass the pews before the 2nd photo could be taken! Woooww....

signing of the cross on her forehead - symbol of purification

anointing of oil on her chest - symbol of strength and protection

Father Loiseau continued with prayers and blessed the baptismal water; which will be poured on the foreheads of the babies... and this part took the longest time as each family has to go up in sequence... and brrrr... the holy water was cold when it was poured down the babies forehead!

getting her head wet with holy water... symbolize the cleansing of sins and rebirth to new life and growth

chloe: "see how all 4 pairs of hands busy trying calm me down coz of the cold cold cold holy water dripping all over my forehead, face and neck! :)"

here's us, getting chloe's baptismal certificate from Rev. Fr. Loiseau - very important document!

with chloe's new godparents, Ann and Dominic.

chloe leticia with her baptism bib, baptism candle (lit from the light of the Easter candle - a symbol of freedom from darkness by the Light of Christ) and her baptism certificate

chloe : "i'm officially a baptized catholic! daddy, when will you join me & mommy?"

and now, let's all say cheese...

with Father Loiseau - welcoming us into the catholic family and a beginning of a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship.

we are so proud of chloe today... and yes, welcome to God's one big happy family!
mommy & daddy LOVES you to bits! :)

chloe wants to thank her godparents, Ann and Dominic for being there for her today and grateful for their willingness to be part of her life and being the companions to guide her along her religious journey in future.

*********
mommy wants to remind chloe's godparents to be active in participating in her growing up years - especially the occassional baby-sitting duties which are *crucial* training ground for both of you in preparation of your little one in future... (*evil grin* mommy: "muahahaha......cannot escape liao..." )
