the birth story of baby G

this is a delayed post, for obvious reasons.
but i'll still do a short chronicles of events to mark his arrival, for he is our precious precious precious little baby boy.

9 apr
730am - still munching a slice of bread and drinking anmum (suppose to fast from midnite but...previous experience has taught me otherwise!)
930am - reached hospital. sign form of consent to let daddy into the ops theatre to witness the birth (it was overlooked previously). went through some tests (drawing another tube of my blood again! gah!!) with doctor and confirmed both mommy & baby are ready for ops today. was scheduled at 3pm but there was a tiny clause saying it may or may not be on time depending on the cases.
11am - got my bed. yeah.... can rest and watch tv
1pm - no sight of the nurse to ask me to change into my swanlake costume
2pm - dr devendra came to apologize, apparently my schedule will be pushed back to 'dun know when' as there was an urgent surgery case that 'cut the rest of the queue'. wah piang...
4pm - my face is as black as the kettle's bottom... started to feel upset and grouchy... affecting hubby's mood as well.
505pm - obviously we have missed the auspicious timing for baby G's birth... and i got really upset & cried. one of the nurse came by and saw and asked if everything was ok (yeah, as if she can turn back the clock and make things ok... ) then started telling me "You CANNOT CRY during confinement ah, must be happy that you will see your baby ah..." blah blah blah...
6pm - changed into my swanlake stockings and ops gown and waiting to be wheeled to the ops theatre.
630pm - finished talking to the anaesthetist and he started the procedure for the spinal injection. it was a little bit painful but after awhile, everything was ok... basically, lower part of body started to go numb.
640pm - hubby came into the ops theatre looking like someone from AVA who just finished culling dozens of chickens with avian flu! it was an unforgettable sight! :D
655pm - was told by the anaesthetist that ops had begun... since i was numb and can't see what was happening.
712pm - was told that baby's head is almost out.... we're both so gan cheong i kept asking hubby to look at the time, the TIME!!!!
716pm - we heard dr devendra asking daddy to stand up and see... the baby's out! shortly after, the brought baby G nearer to show me - but he was upside down and pretty 'grey' and luckily not too bloody. i can't say i felt in love with him at first sight coz i didn't wear my glasses (sucks!) but after the nurses cleaned him, they let hubby carry him while i have a better & closer look at my son.
720pm - hubby and i were admiring baby G's jet black hair and slightly reddish look - somehow he had white spots on his nose... oh yes, his NOSE is almost the same as mon cherie's... the Jackie Chan nose.... gah...
725pm - hubby & baby G followed the nurse to the infant ward for tests while i continued to be stitched.
815pm - was at the observation room for more monitoring of side effects - luckily there was none.
9pm - back to my bed and the numbness is starting to wear off... can feel a bit of pain but still bearable.
910pm - hubby came by and showed me baby G's photos and also some comments about his looks from a few of my buddies who came by to visit while i was still at the observation room. he also mentioned that baby G's sugar level is slightly low and they have kept him at the infant ward for further observation. we will only know if he can be brought down to the nursery tomorrow morning.
920pm - hubby left to fetch mon cherie from the nanny's while i went back to lala land... but counting down to tomorrow when i can finally see my precious son & hold him in my arms!

it won't be long... it won't be long...

will be seeing my precious son tomorrow.
