pasir ris fishing day out

another family day outing at pasir ris park for some fishing in the early morning.
the happy girl when she reached and saw the huge ponds...

the happy duo.

the soon to be 'breakfast' for the fishes... poor prawns!

trying to 'look' like an angler... with zero fishing experience.

soon the weather got too hot and humid and the kids started to feel the heat... and boredom.
aiyoh... still no fish ah... when can we go home??

look at my hair... i'm sweating... and this tiny fan is just useless!!!

dun worry... mommy to the rescue.... (mommy also can't stand the humidity, despite there's no sun!)

let's go have some fun at the playground nearby.
chloe's FIRST time in a baby swing... and she can still fit in the seat, with plenty of room at 31 months! and she enjoyed it quite a bit - at least there's no whining/crying to get out of it.

and the little guy's just happy getting a fix on the spinning chair... mommy gets headache just looking at him. hahaha...

and the little wonder-girl... who could resist this chorus when it's being played all over the island every day! :)

and how many fishes did zero-experienced daddy managed to catch today?
ZERO.

but we got ONE frozen talapia courtesy of the company, hence we didn't leave empty handed.
so, would we do it again? you BET we're NOT.
Hahaha....

short trip to malacca

we went back to daddy's hometown in malacca over the weekend, mainly to visit relatives and hopefully do some sightseeing and eat yummy food!

it was a 4-hr coach trip so we have to prepare lots of stuffs to keep ourselves (aka chloe & gaby) occupied and comfortable. so without further a due, let the journey begin!

Day ONE
happy camper... enjoying the scenery along the way.

and the MUST-HAVE items for chloe... her pacy and pillow!

we stayed at 三姨婆 house during this trip and the kids got acquainted with their distant cousins, Denise and Adrian who were 8 & 6 years old respectively. They warmed up to each other after the elder kids brought a whole basket of toys to share with the little ones! 1st evening was spent at Tesco, stocking up diapers and milk powder for the little ones.

Day TWO
We went to daddy's grandpa's old house in Tanjung Kling and visited another relative who lived next door. While the elders chit-chatted, we waited patiently for the rain to stop so that we can go explore the beach about 100m away from the old house.

once the rain had stopped, one of the relative brought us to the nearby mushroom plant where they grew the smaller version of the abalone mushrooms. we got to see 1st hand how it is grown; which was really interesting.

the mushroom that have sprouted for a about a week...

these are almost 2 weeks old... another few more days and they will be ready to be harvested.

gaby and daddy at one of the mushroom nursery racks.

next up was a short stroll to the marine club house nearby for some photo-taking. chloe was so happy when she saw the azure blue swimming pool and kept saying she wants to go swimming! :)

sitting in front of the pool with daddy - behind them is the sea!

lunch was at another relative's place and later that nite, we went to the famous jonker walk. basically it's just like chinatown's pasar malam and was super crowded - gaby lost one of his sandals there. oh well...

the interesting part was their trishaws; fully decorated with tonnes of flowers and lights.

day THREE
last day to explore malacca during the day - let the photos tell it all.

the scorching hot sunny day...

the ship museum

we all went up the revolving tower - tebing sari which goes up 800m above ground to have a quick overview of malacca town.

can you spot 'eye on malaysia'... the tiny ferris-wheel on the left?

along the malacca river... this is the structure i like the most.

and it so happened that there was a dragon boat race ongoing...

rowing towards the finish line...

and this is the famous malacca chicken rice balls that looked like fish-balls and the all time favourite; nonya cendol.

day FOUR
the day we hit the road back to singapore... and that pretty much sums up our short trip. it was tiring since chloe decided that she only wants to be carried ALL the time while we're out. but overall it was a good experience for the kids, especially getting to know their distant cousins.

we'll surely be back next time.

this is better than my toys

this video says it all.
kids are more fascinated with buttons on all sorts of electronic appliances (fan/cooling tower, remote controls, cell phones, etc.) than those from their toys.

and see how cheeky gaby can react... especially when he knows he's doing something naughty! :)

temptation...

to little toddlers who only drink milk, juice and water... the first taste of ice cold drink is definitely hard to resist... just look at these facial expressions!

the culprit that introduces temptation to the victim...

and the endless indulgence thereafter...

while in church...

chloe will flip through her story book (if i remember to bring along, else it will be church's hymn book) and sometimes even tried reading it by herself, in her own 'language'.

remember the pink headband. it comes in handy to keep her hair out of her face!

and as usual, the boy would be running about exploring each little corner and disturbing others with his cheeky smiles.

these are still manageable moments prior to commencement of the mass proper.
thereafter, it usually involves a lot of shhhiiiinggg and screaming (almost silently) "NO" at gaby for disturbing others. and he tends to get away with it just by flashing us with his cheeky smiles!

ah... i'm just waiting for the day when they are old enough to join the other kids for the children's mass so that all of us can have some peaceful time for prayers!

the time will come... the time will come...

i want pink color...

chloe has been bugging me about getting her 'almost' everything in pink!

so far she has requested for:
1. bicycle, pink color
2. pink color rice (well, so long she thinks it's possible...)
3. pink dinosaur
4. pink telephone
5. pink headband
6. pink dress (as she puts it: i want pink color dress, like princess like that... )
7. pink shoes (of course have to match her dress mah...)
8. pink umbrella (she took mine and claimed it as her own)
9. pink underwear (which she already has quite a few...)

and some others which i can't recall at the moment (thank goodness!)

last evening when i got home from work, she ransacked my tote carrier, as usual, to look for goodies... and she found a pink headband, with ribbons too!

so this morning, she insisted wearing her pink headband to childcare.

one item strike off the list and 8 more to go... but where am i going to find a Pink Dinosaur?!

Tuesday, June 08, 2010

and you wonder what they learn in childcare...

chloe loves reading... which is good.
chloe loves to read in her own language... which is not so good.
and when mamii tried to help her with the reading, this is her response!

and she can still cheekily laugh it off.
1st time can be amusing but somehow it makes me wonder if this is the normal response to the toddlers when they react during story-telling time?
hmmm...

the reason for waking up crying at nite...

obviously being too hyper before bed time is a big NO NO!
but how can you stop her when she's in such a happy mood?

a wonderful birthday treat

only when you openly TELL the other half what you want, then will you get what you want. :)
and so, it was a wonderful lunch treat at Lawry's today for me.

entree... lobster tail

lawry's famous spinning bowl salad. only the preparation of the salad was interesting, the salad itself... nothing to shout about.

the diamond cut... don't be misled by the size of the picture, the plate itself is twice as big as my face! ahahahaa... and the portion is best shared by 2 persons. we over indulged; hence ended up wasting quite a bit. boo hoo...

their english pudding... soggy stuff. bleah

and cranberries creme brulee... nice but a tad too sour.

overall i would rate the food 7.5/10, good service, good ambiance.
but it was great spending time with the other half; even if it's only half a day.
